Visa Requirements

Most visitors to Taiwan require a visa. Please check the visa requirements for your country well in advance of the conference.

Visa-Exempt Countries

Citizens of the following countries can enter Taiwan without a visa for short stays:

  • 90 Days: USA, Canada, UK, EU countries, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and others
  • 30 Days: Some Southeast Asian countries
  • 14 Days: Some countries

Note: Visa-exempt status depends on your nationality and purpose of visit. Please verify current regulations with the Taiwan representative office in your country.

Visa Types

Tourist Visa

  • For general visitors
  • Apply at Taiwan representative office in your country
  • Processing time: 5-7 business days
  • Valid for single or multiple entries

Conference Visa

  • For conference attendees
  • May require invitation letter from conference organizers
  • Processing time: 5-7 business days
  • Valid for the duration of the conference

Application Process

  1. Check Requirements

    • Verify if you need a visa
    • Determine which type of visa you need
    • Check required documents

  2. Gather Documents

    • Passport (valid for at least 6 months)
    • Completed visa application form
    • Passport photos (recent, color)
    • Conference invitation letter (if required)
    • Proof of accommodation
    • Return flight tickets
    • Financial proof (bank statements)

  3. Submit Application

    • Apply at Taiwan representative office in your country
    • Submit all required documents
    • Pay visa fee (varies by country)

  4. Wait for Processing

    • Processing time: 5-7 business days (may vary)
    • Some countries offer expedited processing

Invitation Letter

If you need a visa invitation letter from the conference:

  1. Complete Registration

    • Register for the conference first
    • Payment confirmation required

  2. Request Invitation Letter

    • Request through registration system
    • Provide required information:
      • Full name (as on passport)
      • Passport number
      • Nationality
      • Affiliation
      • Purpose of visit

  3. Receive Letter

    • Processing time: 5-7 business days
    • Letter will be sent via email
    • Print and include with visa application

Note: Invitation letters will only be issued to registered attendees.

Important Notes

  • Apply Early: Start the visa process at least 4-6 weeks before travel
  • Valid Passport: Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months
  • Multiple Entries: If you plan to visit other countries, request multiple-entry visa
  • Visa Fee: Fees vary by country and visa type
  • Processing Time: Allow sufficient time for processing

Visa on Arrival

Some nationalities may be eligible for visa on arrival. Please check with your airline and Taiwan immigration authorities.

Transit Visa

If you are transiting through Taiwan:

  • Transit without leaving airport: Usually no visa required
  • Leaving airport during transit: May require transit visa
  • Check with your airline and Taiwan immigration
